not our best day but an interesting one

Today was special, we cycled 29 miles from Achnasheen to Gairloch. Well we set off late so I won't start there. We woke up at 8:00 and has breakfast while helping Mike to service other guests breakfast. We'll as it was raining and the train wasn't till 12 but the rain was extremely heavy so we stayed at the b&b the whole morning and I went up with Josh to his loft to play Titanfall on his Xbox. When we had to leave we packed and did with the bikes to the station in Lochalsh walking in the rain.

At the staion we bought tickets to Strathcarron as that was were we first planned to go. At the station there's a museum and shop we went in and got a Bovril and waited for the train. It turned up at twelve, half an hour late of when it was supposed to be because of the weather. We went instead two more stops extra to Achnasheen a good call by me to ask dad to look up if we could get closer to our destination by train. We got off the train there and it was absouloutly pouring still but we had no other choice so we just went straight to our destination. It was OK at first but soon we got really cold and wet my fingers and toes could barley move. So we had to carry on only stopped twice shortly for wee brakes. After about 21 miles of that we finally came to a hotel and I asked dad for a tea brake, the rain was still heavy. We had a tea brake there and while talking to the lady who owned it I mentioned dad used to have a water filter company and the lady there had trouble with her water pressure so the woman's husband was there and had a talk with dad about their filter and eventually dad went outside with the man to look at it in his shed. The rain had died down by that time so a second good call by me and the man said that because we had helped him with the filter we didn't have to pay for the tea and crisps! So a good bonus.

That was a nice break and we were a tiny bit drier and we cycled a bit slower some parts where we saw rivers were absolutely full! We cycled about 7 ish miles and then came to a bend and round it there was a whole line of cars as the river had flooded! There were different places where it had over flown but we freewheeled through them until we came to the last one and it was big. We ended up wading through the water carrying our bikes and funnily enough as we had been cold all after noon the water felt quite warm! Our b&b was on a side road and part of the river flooded the front drive this was the deepest part of the river but we made it in the end and I didn't feel cold after it. We put our bikes in a shed and the lady who owned the b&b let us in we had a showers and needed dinner in the end it turned out the owners husband was driving down some of the guests to the local pub for dinner so we went as well and had a nice dinner there he picked us up and drove us back and by that time the flood had gone down a lot. We got back and are now in bed also are exited as tommorow we'll be in Ullapool to see mum for three nights very exciting, our longest day off then. Bye.
